On 29th September 2025, the Department of CSBS at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) came alive with energy, curiosity, and innovation as it hosted an inspiring Robotics Workshop. Organized in collaboration with Techfest, IIT Bombay—Asia’s largest science and technology festival—the workshop opened doors for students to explore the fascinating world of robotics and its endless possibilities. The event was more than just a workshop; it was a glimpse into the future, where automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics are reshaping industries and everyday life.
A STAR-STUDDED BEGINNING
The workshop began on an inspiring note with the presence of Mr. Ch. Subrahmanyam, Founder and CEO of UniFirst Robotics. With years of experience in the field of robotics and STEM education, Mr. Subrahmanyam has been at the forefront of nurturing innovation among young minds. A strong vision has marked his journey as an entrepreneur and educator—to make robotics education accessible and engaging for students across India. In his keynote address, he emphasized how robotics is no longer confined to research labs but has become a vital part of industries, healthcare, defense, and even everyday life. He encouraged students to view robotics not just as a subject, but as a problem-solving tool that can transform the way we live and work.
“Every great innovation begins with curiosity. Robotics gives you the platform to turn that curiosity into solutions,” he said, setting the tone for the entire session. His words resonated strongly with the audience, inspiring them to think beyond textbooks and to imagine themselves as future innovators. Following his
address, Ms. M Priyadharshini, Robotics Trainer at UniFirst Robotics, took charge of guiding the technical demonstrations. Alongside them, Mr. Praveen, Senior Technical Trainer at UniFirst Robotics, played a key role in the workshop. He conducted the live demonstrations, showcasing how robots respond to instructions and perform real-time tasks. His practical insights and clear explanations made the sessions highly interactive, ensuring students could connect theory with hands-on learning.
BEYOND EXPECTATIONS: AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE
What made this workshop even more remarkable was the sheer enthusiasm of students. Registrations quickly crossed expectations, and yet many students turned up beyond the official count, eager not to miss the opportunity. The PC Sagar Auditorium was filled with budding engineers, innovators, and
curious learners who wanted to experience robotics first-hand. The overwhelming participation showed how deeply students are interested in emerging technologies and how platforms like these can spark their imagination.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
By the end of the workshop, every participant walked away with something valuable:
1. Practical Knowledge: Exposure to robotics concepts in a simple, engaging way
2. Hands-on Learning: Demonstrations that showed how robots function in real-world scenarios
3. Career Awareness: Insights into how robotics is shaping industries and how students can build careers in this field
4. Inspiration: Motivation to explore, innovate, and experiment beyond the classroom
WHY IT MATTERED
Workshops like this are not just about technology—they are about nurturing innovation. In a world where automation and AI are becoming everyday realities, learning robotics equips students with skills for the future. For DSCE, this event was another milestone in its mission to prepare students for cutting-edge technologies and global opportunities.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Robotics Workshop in collaboration with Techfest, IIT Bombay, was undoubtedly a resounding success. It not only provided knowledge but also lit the spark of curiosity among students. As the session concluded, one thing was clear: this was just the beginning. With more workshops, competitions, and hands-on learning opportunities, DSCE continues to create a vibrant space for students to learn, innovate, and lead the future of technology.
